A sticky situation
What some people regard as humorous is to others hurtful. Think of visiting a restroom while shopping with your wife in the mall, and ending up being taken to the emergency room instead. That is exactly what happened to a fifty-eight year man in Cairns, Australia this last week. He sat down on the toilet only to find someone had smeared it with quick dry glue. The gentleman was not hurt by the prank, but was understandably humiliated by the sick joke. An ambulance was called and the attendants removed the seat from the toilet and transported the man to the hospital where the seat was removed with industrial solvents. Police are urging anyone with information to come forward so the jokesters can be prosecuted and no one else has to suffer what this gentleman had to endure. Sad to think of such things happening. What did this man do to deserve such a crude and malicious act perpetrated against him? The answer is nothing; absolutely nothing. He was most likely unknown to the individuals that did this. He was innocent and yet suffered. Unfortunately suffering pain and embarrassment is something we all must go through at times in our life. How we react is the key to making the experience a benefit or detriment to us. God Son was persecuted and suffered at the hands of people that didn t even know Him. That suffering continued and found it s zenith as Jesus felt the whip and nails. We cannot regard ourselves immune to suffering, if God Himself suffered. We must look for the good in the suffering and what benefit will come from it. That positive outcome may be for ourselves or it may be for someone else, but we must look for it and realize that there can and will be some benefit. After all you know that you will encounter some sticky situations as you travel through life. Just how will you respond?
