Be prepared to act accordingly
A couple of weeks ago a thirty-three year old man was arrested and remains held in the Clearwater, Florida jail on a ten thousand dollar bond. The authorities said the man was taken into custody at a local Clearwater strip club. No, the man was not arrested on charges of assault or intoxication. The charges were dealing with his conduct; not toward other patrons, or the women employed there. He was charged with two felony counts of child neglect. You see this guy decided to spend the night at the strip joint and leave a three year old and four year old in the car. Now this man will spend some time behind bars rather than in one. I can only imagine what the children were thinking as the minutes rolled by; looking toward the door and hoping with each time it would open it would be him. Then the fear of what would happen to them when the police escorted him out of the bar and into a police cruiser. They suffered because of no fault of their own. Suffering is a fact of life and we all know that if we are not suffering today, just wait because it could change as quickly as the Wyoming weather. There are many causes for suffering in our life: some we can control and others are far from our reach. Even though suffering will inevitably come to us all, it is good to know where they come from. With this knowledge we can watch for them and be prepared to act accordingly.
